Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has partnered with a leading research institute and is seeking an Assistant Director for Sponsored Research. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the management of grants and contracts along with financial compliance, and administration of operational budgets.   • Supervise the sponsored research/grants & contracts office and manage the Sponsored Research (SR) a team
  • Oversee research projects, advise, and recommend procedures, and communicates the changes to GFA's and faculty
  • Monitor federal regulations and ensure program compliance with federal and institutional regulations and policies
  • Review and monitor workflow of proposals, change requests and award agreements and reassigns work as needed
  • Develop, implement and train staff in standard procedures that support the organization
  • Provide support as principle source of information on complex financial plans and procedures
  • Oversee associated financial compliance, as well as management of center operational budgets
  • Develop and train staff on federal regulations and institutional policies related to grants and contracts
  • Maintain key relations with principle investigators, faculty and grantors
  • Supervise team to manage grants and contracts from submission to post-award

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related fields from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of grants management and sponsored research experience
  • Prior experience administering and managing sponsored research/grants at an educational institution or federal government
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff and personnel
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to operate with considerable independence to effectively establish priorities and work accurately under time constraints
  • Ability to cultivate successful relationships and leverage networks, lead teams and prove strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with teams or present recommendations to increase the efficiency of the processes
  • Strong analytical skills, detailed and process oriented; ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle large workloads
