As a critical component of generating revenue that supports ground-breaking journalism, The Washington Post's Brand Strategy team sits at the nexus of creativity, strategic solutions and storytelling-shaping client strategy and proposal development by translating clients' challenges into simple and clear ideas and platforms.

We are seeking an Associate Brand Strategist to drive scale and efficiency across the team in our fast-paced, highly competitive advertising sales environment. The role is designed for an emerging talent who will serve as a hybrid SME strategist working on complex, category informed strategies as well as serving as a general strategist working to contribute to the rapid response team.

This newly created hybrid role is concentrated on sales enablement with a strategic mindset and includes the essential functions of:

  • Fielding advertiser-customized collateral requests from our sales team with minimal turnaround times
  • Tracking and analysis of regularly pitched products to advertisers within industry verticals to inform the creation of specific advertising solutions packages that span The Washington Post's media platforms (digital, print, video, social, events)
  • Analysis and preparation of internal presentations to the Client Solutions executive team showcasing insights and trends around pre-sale processes and resource usage
  • Creation of easy-to-use Powerpoint templates for frequently-used proposal structures
  • Creation and maintenance of a Powerpoint library of Washington Post reader insights across audience segments that are frequently targeted by advertisers, built in collaboration with The Post's research team
  • Creation and maintenance of file sharing tools that make our proposal materials easily discoverable and functional across multiple internal teams working in close collaboration with The Washington Post's Product Marketing team

  • Serve as influential contributors and SME's for various types of outputs working collaboratively across The Creative Group and within Client Solutions.
  • Have a strong command of tonality, audience, mindset and what is happening in the industry- what works, and what can be drawn upon- to inform strategies and solutions meant to distinguish us in the particular space
  • Stay abreast of industry & competitive news especially in Small Business, unique advertiser programs and digital innovations, presenting the best ideas to the team
