Network Engineer


The Network Engineer will be supporting a contract with the Department of Transportation.

  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  • Provide information for hardware and software selection
  • Recommend tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Conduct testing of network systems
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of related experience managing data networks, cloud infrastructure, possessing advanced skills and knowledge in routing, switching, load balancing, and firewall management and/or
  • Master's degree and 5+ years of related experience and/or
  • PhD degree and 2+ years related experience
  • Background check required

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective in a team setting
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Experience working in a home office setting
  • Ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor
  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
