Senior Cisco Systems Engineer

Summary

The Senior Cisco Systems Engineer applies technical knowledge, laws, policies, directives, and guidance to senior engineering network objectives across several projects during total network lifecycle changes. They will provide IT systems engineering support to assess and oversee the technical requirements, design, development, and implementation for those systems under the purview of the contracted work.

Responsibilities
  • Support contract procurement planning, solicitation, award, and monitoring activities
  • Conduct requirements analysis, design, development, performance measurement, verification and validation, certification and accreditation, deployment, change management, and transition by applying a broad and deep set of engineering expertise
  • Employ knowledge of telecommunications and internet systems architecturesto ensure successful internet protocol transition efforts are successful for the customer
  • Assist with the development of After-Action Reports, Monthly Status Reports, Lessons Learned, and TCP/IP network conversions
  • Assist with the technical Re-addressing of TCP/IP Networks, with focus on firewalls, switches, routers, and other devices or cloud services as required
  • Reconfigure networking and telecommunications equipment as well as accurately document all topology and configuration changes to meet the objectives of this contract
  • Track, fix, and address security flaws as directed by the CORand customer requirements
  • Up to 5% travel may be required
  • Ability to work remotely using collaborative tools (e.g., Teams, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree OR
  • High school diploma and 4+ years of additional experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of Network Administration/Engineering or related experience required
  • 3+ years of CISCO experience
  • CISCO Certified
  • CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
  • Professional CCNP preferred
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level I Certified
  • Secret clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook
  • Knowledge of CISCO IOS is essential
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards, and strong technical knowledge of telecommunications and networks devices
  • Ability to properly apply STIGS as needed
  • Ability to understand IAVAs and remediate issues as needed
  • Capable of understanding NAT vs. non-NAT configurations as well as routed vs. transparent firewall configurations
  • Understand device connections within hybrid-cloud environments.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
