As an increasing number of large digital publishers move their critical business processes to Arc Publishing, we are in need of a Professional Services Engineering Director who is experienced in leading our onboarding teams of frontend and backend engineers. The ideal candidate thrives on refining our services to help our clients achieve their business goals.

The Engineering Director is part of our Professional Services organization and will work closely with project teams within Professional Services as well as Sales, Account Management, Platform Engineering, and Product Management organizations.

Once it is safe to return to the office; the preference would be for this position to be located in Chicago or Washington DC but remote candidates may also be considered if in the US.

  • Effectively manage a team of engineering managers, engineering leads, and individual contributors across multiple functional areas.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure customer and Arc's success.
  • Customer facing management of onboarding and internal technical projects.
  • Hands-on in learning the technical details of our platform and underlying technology stacks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with our strategic partner network.
  • Participate in capacity planning, recruiting and financial planning processes.
  • Travel to our clients up to 5%, occasionally to international destinations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven leader of a team of 20+ engineers and engineering leads, who is self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic and organized.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years experience with agile software development.
  • 5+ years consulting services experience with strong matrix management skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in operating production-grade services for our clients 24x7.
  • Excited about improving project delivery best practices.
  • Industry experience in news publishing or broadcasting.
  • Experience in an international work environment.
