Senior Systems Engineer


The Senior Systems Engineer will report to the Enterprise Management Engineering team. This position will be responsible for coordinating with network engineers on the configuration and access of the Government Customer's Enterprise Infrastructure of all assets relating to Enterprise Management monitoring.

  • Provide network engineering operations support ensuring that all transport devices across the customer network classifications can communicate with Enterprise Management infrastructure core tools, including HP Network Automation, HP Network Node Manager, CA eHealth, and other COTS solutions.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations pertaining to network optimization and enhancements in order to support integration with Enterprise Management tools.
  • Participate in customer, contract, and vendor meetings as required.
  • Participate in designing, engineering, documenting, and coordinating recommended changes to system architecture, to accommodate Enterprise Management support.
  • Work with the customer's network infrastructure.
  • Work with routers, bridges, switches, storage area networks, network security, and network management systems in a UNIX and Windows environment.
  • Engage in supervisory responsibilities.

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years relevant experience OR
  • Associate degree and 10+ years relevant experience OR
  • 12+ years relevant experience
  • Years of relevant work experience include:
  • Operational experience with ServiceNow
  • Experience in the Intelligence Community
  • DoD 8140 (formerly 8570.01-M), IAT Level II Certification required
  • TS/SCI clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience working with automated server configuration and deployment tools, including Jenkins, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Ability to forecast and plan for infrastructure needs and find ways to improve efficiency.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology, tools, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with both native and non-native Cloud monitoring tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of Cloud, AWS, and Services offered by AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, ECS, Lambda).
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and other applications.
  • Experience working in a home office setting.
  • Ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone.
  • Good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
