Data Manager-SAS Programmer

Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a full-time Data Manager / SAS Programmer in our Durham, North Carolina office. Westat programmers and epidemiologists provide support services for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Epidemiology Branch. Westat supports the NIEHS Sister Study, a longitudinal study to determine the environmental and genetic risk factors for cancer, by conducting a range of data management and analytic tasks. This role will assist the Westat team in tracking data requests, developing analytical variables and data files, delivering data to researchers, and managing tasks.

Job Responsibilities:
• Use SAS to perform data management tasks and support analysis.
• Work with multifaceted teams comprised of epidemiologists, statisticians, and programmers.
• Conduct data reviews and create documentation.
• Assist with task timelines and management.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree, preferably in public health.
• 1-3 years of applied SAS programming skills, especially linking datasets.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A Master's degree in biostatistics or epidemiology.
• Skilled at translating concepts into algorithms for creation of analytic variables.
• Experience with large, longitudinal health studies.
• A demonstrated aptitude for data operations and the use of programming for data manipulation and investigation.

Candidates must possess an analytical mind, excellent written and oral communication skills, be detail oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and an organized approach to work.
