Summary: TheDispatch Operator will have dispatch, transit tracking, and scheduling experience within transportation industry, possess a Top Secret Clearance and be a qualified radio operator. TheDispatcher works under the general supervision of the Move Management Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing written reports as required (Accident or Incident Reports, etc.), and other written documentation related to the daily performance of the operation.
- Assist customers with complaints or queries, and reports accidents and incidents
- Responsible for supporting timeliness and efficiency of the transportation program, and to help support the safety and security of equipment during transport.
- Monitor flow of vehicles, routes, times, and operators.
- Dispatch, track, and communicate with transportation elements.
- Provide direction, guidance and information to vehicle operators related to the service, to ensure routes and stops are serviced safely and on-time.
- Monitor daily driver activities to ensure that all drivers maintain the time intervals as required by the published schedule.
- Communicate with the customer, other vendors, dispatch team, and managers on a daily basis regarding changes and activities.
- Manage and enhance customer service, ensuring safety and satisfaction are always the primary considerations.
- Provide requested and/or pertinent information to vehicle operators or customers without displaying a negative or hostile attitude.
- Maintain radio contact with vehicle operators at all times to obtain and/or report all route and schedule information which may impacted the transportation schedule.
- Complete written reports as required on vehicular deficiencies, accidents, incidents, and other issues as required.
- Know and follow all safety and health rules as well as safe working practices applicable to the job.
- Initiate contingency or corrective actions (early or late departures, missed stops) of transportation schedules as necessary to ensure safe and timely transportation of all equipment.
- Monitor all communication devices to ensure all vehicle operators use proper radio procedures and etiquette.
- Notify operations management if correction/training is needed.
- Notify the Safety Manager and the Lead Dispatcher of any safety and rule violations.
- Notify the Safety Manager and Lead Dispatcher immediately of all operational issues that impact service performance.
- Help train new dispatchers, maintain proficiency in applicable systems and apply best practices.
- Assist in accident investigations, reporting, filing, and corrective actions.
- Maintain daily records and logs as required.
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required
- 5+ years experience in the following:
- similar sized dispatch office
- dispatch operations
- Qualified radio operator
- US Government Top Secret Security Clearance.
- If required, be able to successfully complete a counterintelligence-based polygraph examination.
