The UX Designer is responsible for providing the Government Product Manager a clear understanding of user needs, user experience interviews, and support creating the look and feel of the application.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform user-centered approach in the application design development
  • Advise on product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops
  • Implement Lean UX principles in defining minimum viable products (MVP) for prototyping and testing
  • Implement iterative development and delivery
  • Collaborate with a Pivotal Labs SW Designer and other members of the team (contractor and government)
  • Develop Software (SW) application briefing presentations
  • Support the Discovery and Framing process and facilitate user interviews
  • Continuously learn user trends and behaviors as part of each design cycle.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required and in experience design, industrial design, HCI, or related field OR 3 years of relevant work experience in UX, product design, and/or enterprise application fields
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in UX, product design and/or enterprise application fields or relevant customer-facing job role
  • Secret clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in User Centered Design (UCD) methods
  • Experience working with HTML/CSS and Browser Developer Tools
  • Experience in the design and/or development of full-service applications
  • Experience with front-end Java Script development a plus
  • Experience working in a rapid and iterative development environment
  • Experience creating flow diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and visual comps, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates this
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, XD, Figma, Sketch and InVision
  • Experience with the design and product development processes
  • Experience with early-stage design, ideation techniques, and research methods
  • Excellent management, communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with varying skillsets
  • Experience with agile and lean philosophies
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design, visual design, and usability best practices
  • Ability to build wireframes and mockups
  • Ability to work individually and within a team and assist teammates to achieve team commitments
  • Ability to discuss, present and defend designs and design decisions with cross-functional and non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% (travel may be required for this position).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve in a deadline-driven environment
