Digital Ad Operations & QA Lead

Job Description

The Digital Advertising Operations team at The Washington Post has two distinct missions. The first is to be subject matter experts in the processes and systems required for ad delivery. The second is the successful delivery of those ads for revenue recognition. AdOps is responsible for ad trafficking, ad delivery and the building and QA of ad products in proprietary and 3rd party systems. We are looking for a seasoned Digital Ad Operations & QA Lead with leadership qualities to help advocate the standards of our Advertising Operations department. This a technically challenging and highly collaborative role. Successful candidates have a strong understanding of the complexities of digital ad operations.

Responsibilities include:
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to provide operational support for revenue growth, publisher initiatives, and product innovations
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams on ad script logic/ad call placement; Fulfill testing, QA, and ad server configuration related tasks
  • Create protocols and lead testing at various stages of development to ensure ad experiences function across platforms and experiences
  • Translate requirements into defined solutions that operationalize complex programs and resolve ad issues
  • Build campaign creatives for deployment across all digital platforms onsite and offsite - desktop, mobile, video, email, podcasts
  • Act as a subject matter expert across our digital ad products, tools, and workflows to support the day-to-day operational needs of stakeholders
  • Maintain documentation of bugs, workarounds, and enhancements

Requirements include:
  • 8+ years of digital experience
  • Expert knowledge of Google Ad Manager
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Energetic self-starter with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadline driven tasks and comfortable with shifting priorities
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Have a good understanding of both business needs and technology capabilities-plus be capable of translating that knowledge in plain terms
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with Jira, Basecamp or like systems
  • Knowledge of Video ad serving is a plus
  • Vendor management experience working with tracking, verification, and brand safety vendors
  • Must be proficient with JavaScript, iFrame, and other HTML coding and targeting as it relates to ad serving and pixel implementation
  • Must be able to demonstrate technical expertise
  • BA/BS required
