The Senior Equipment Specialist shall provide support for the overall management of any and all programs/efforts. Shall provide support for all aspects of design, test, production, procurement, supply, operation, repair, or disposal of equipment. Shall provide assistance in developing or revising equipment maintenance programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical inputs for the maintenance, operation, sustainment, and training related to complex and sophisticated systems and equipment.
  • Provide systems, subsystems, and support equipment advice and recommendations.
  • Participate in the preparation and maintenance of TOs.
  • Provide assistance in ensuring the accuracy, adequacy, modification, classification, and review of TO procedures, engineering data, and the related technical contents of these TOs.
  • Provide technical assistance for the modification and configuration control of assigned systems.
  • Work with IPTs to assist in the development and processing of modification packages for approval and implementation.
  • Provide support to the System Engineer to maintain configuration management (CM).
  • Assist the System Engineer during functional configuration audit (FCA) and physical configuration audit (PCA) to validate completion of the development or modification effort for a configuration item or system.
  • Assist in the review and provide feedback on technical suggestions for improvements and alterations related to the equipment they manage under the Airmen Powered by Innovation (API) Program.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolving complex system/equipment problems or design deficiencies through the DRIS.
  • Assist in the management of software pertaining to the equipment as a CPIN for distribution and CM control purposes.
  • Provide support to the provisioning process and SERD Submissions.
  • Ensure the recommended solution meets the technical requirements and identify if a similar item already exists in the Government's inventory (or may be modified) to satisfy the requirement in lieu of procuring recommended SE.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Master's degree in engineering and 10 years of experience or
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited educational program and a minimum of 12 years of experience or
  • 15 years of related experience
  • Secret Clearance required

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
