Summary:

NJVC is seeking a GIS Systems Administrator to join our team in Arnold, MO. The Engineer will work with and provide support across a wide range of applications in a large-scale, multi-network, multi-domain environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the installation, testing, monitoring, and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) within a large DoD organization.
  • Provide exploitation and visualization services associated with a broad array of standard and non-standard geographic products.
  • These products include (but not limited to) raster and vector-based map products, digital terrain data, charts, and various safety of navigation data.
  • Monitor and maintain the various applications utilized, specifically ArcGIS and GeoServer.
  • Management and validation of the data.
  • Responsibility for interfacing with all customers of the GIS system including both geospatial data publishers and internal/external consumers.
  • Maintain/develop scripts/programs to ingest and process data destined for visualization by the GIS.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • HS Diploma
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Active Security certification within 6 months of hire
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of industry GIS tool suites to include GeoServer and ArcGIS server.
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of publishing web services from spatial databases (including Oracle Spatial and PostGIS).
  • Understanding of open source GIS protocols (OGC Standards - WMS, WFS, WCS).
  • Ability to independently: Install applications onto Linux; Script in Shells; Configure Web servers; Configure Application servers; Troubleshoot Linux system issues; Understand Network traffic;
  • Experience Installing and Configuring applications: JBoss/Wildfly/Tomcat/Glassfish; Apache HTTPD/SSL; Nagios/iCinga; PostgreSQL; PgPool; Puppet; ElasticSearch; PKI Authentication; ArcGI
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
