Responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, and successful execution of the Great American Outdoor Show. Success will be determined by effectively implementing objectives and attaining established goals for attendance, space sales, special events, seminar programs, celebrity appearances, staff/contractor relations, and Association requirements.

This position is based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

  • Collaborate with department managers to effectively develop, coordinate, plan, and execute show objectives.
  • Oversee the development of exhibit hall floor plans to meet the requirements of exhibitors and reach revenue projections. Develop leads and play a key management role for the space sales and sponsorship team.
  • Oversee communications with exhibitors through regular email show updates and updates to the show website in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Manage exhibit revenue collection, onsite sales activities, ensure a successful experience for exhibitors and vendors, and help to provide ongoing supervision of event staff and floor managers.
  • Manage booth reservations, relocations, cancellations, and wait list procedures in coordination with the Exhibitor Services Manager.

  • Consult with the Managing Director in the development and management of budgetary accounts (revenues and expenses) and the development and implementation of the advertising and promotional plan.
  • Develop seminar and celebrity programs including topics, securing talent, coordinating schedules and appearances, and integrating effective promotions for them into the overall advertising plan.
  • Work with the marketing and media teams to ensure they have all the relevant and current information for promotional and press release materials.
  • Work with operations team and convention center's Event Coordinator on use of common areas, sign/banner layout, and food service plans in a timely manner.
  • Serve in various capacities as needed to provide support to NRA's other major events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • SCOPE:

    Interacts regularly with staff, department managers, vendors, convention center staff, general service contractor, exhibitors, and NRA members. Position functions in a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision. Occasional national travel is required. Some weekend and after-hour work. Monday through Friday, required as dictated by event schedule.


    College degree and a minimum of five years of experience in the management and production of large shows or events required. Previous management of consumer shows and knowledge of the outdoor industry is highly desirable.


    Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Demonstrated analytical skills required. Detail oriented and highly organized with a proven record of accuracy. Proficiency with A2Z Show Management software highly desirable. Requires strong multitasking skills, coupled with the ability to work well under pressure and respond positively to deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team essential. Proven ability to accomplish multiple tasks within established timelines required. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of staff required, as well as ability to interface professionally with vendors, convention center staff, general service contractor staff, and exhibitors is essential. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite required, as well as willingness to learn other software packages. Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service at all levels while possessing a customer service orientation mindset. Proven ability to supervise and motivate support staff required.
