Research Assistant

Westat is an employee-owned corporation providing research services to agencies of the U.S. Government, as well as businesses, foundations, and state and local governments. Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.
Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a research assistant to work on a variety of projects at the IPS Employment Center.  Three primary projects are (1) a randomized controlled trial evaluating an intensive employment intervention for veterans, (2) an evaluation of early psychosis programs throughout the United States, and (3) a mental health technology study.

Job Responsibilities:

· Contacts research participants to schedule interviews and observations. · Conducts research interviews. · Conducts literature searches relevant to ongoing research projects. · Involved in all aspects of data collection. · Manages data entry, data cleaning, and data file maintenance. · Assist in the delivery of a mental health technology intervention. · Prepares appropriate representations of data such as data tables, matrices, etc. · Participates in the preparation of reports and presentation of the research findings. · Participates in research team meetings. · Assists in preparation of materials for Institutional Review Board review and renewal. · Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
· A bachelor's degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

· A master's degree is preferred. · At least 1 year of research experience is preferred. 
Knowledge of computers, software applications, computer software packages for data analysis and presentation, online literature search engines, and manuscript preparation are essential. Candidate should possess strong organizational and time management skills, critical thinking skills, and excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a research team.
