Job Description

The Marketing Solutions Manager is responsible for driving revenue for the Global Washington Post sales organization across all Washington Post platforms. They will work closely with sales, sales planning and design as well as other internal stakeholders to build concepts and programs that are innovative and compelling to National and Global brands within set vertical categories.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team (Sales, Sales Planning, Design) to create custom advertising proposals including compelling ideas, succinct positioning and comprehensive advertising programs for new and existing clients
  • Lead development of and "own" all market facing positioning, proposals and promotional initiatives for categories covered
  • Become an expert on The Washington Post's value proposition, products, audience and journalism pedigree
  • Be/become an expert in the industry categories covered
  • Develop strong category vertical presentations for each category covered (i.e. Travel, Technology, Financial)
  • Engage customers in written form and over the phone
  • Work with multiple teams across the organization to represent all facets of The Washington Post in proposals (Events, Print, Rainbow, Biz Dev, Newsroom, Design, Web Engineering, etc)
  • Provide support to sales team by helping the teams prepare for sales calls, building client relations, keeping abreast of agency and client accounts, notifying team of product changes and implementing sales strategies

Requirements
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are mandatory
  • Proficient in concept/idea generation
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • A proactive, customer service, solution-oriented attitude
  • B.A. in Communication/Marketing/Business
  • At least 6 years work experience, 2-3 years of experience in digital space preferred
  • Advertising Agency and/or understanding of the advertising sales process experience a plus
