Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the VP, Client Solutions Marketing will play a pivotal role in building the future of how The Washington Post works with our brand partners and how we position ourselves to the industry writ large given our unique strengths as both a publisher and a technology company. This role will have a broad range of leadership responsibilities overseeing product and solutions marketing, B2B brand positioning inclusive of industry events, thought leadership and The Washington Post Creative Group. This individual will be responsible for setting up the overall strategy for positioning The Washington Post and our solutions and will work closely with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure that positioning is consistent across all touchpoints.


The VP, Client Solutions Marketing will:
  • Assume full responsibility for The Washington Post's industry marketing strategy and B2B brand.
  • Lead teams responsible for marketplace image, product & solutions marketing, and The Washington Post Creative Group.
  • Oversee planning, implementation, and management of our industry marketing strategy, including messaging, packaging, promotion and selling of our products.
  • Direct multiple teams in the concurrent execution of measurement projects, distillation of key insights, and in development of corresponding opportunities
  • Liaise with cross-department and cross-organization teams including product, editorial, data & analytics, finance, legal, consumer & subscriptions marketing and more.
  • Define key strategies and narrative that support creation of go to market messaging and execution of B2B events.
  • Serve as an evangelist for our brand through thought leadership, speaking engagements at industry events, trade associations, social media and public relations/press where appropriate.
  • Serve as a strategic enabler to the broader organization by bringing data-driven industry insights to the company and being early to and on top of market trends and competition developments.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in brand or product marketing and/or creative strategy with some experience in generating or supporting revenue teams
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing multi-functional, layered teams
  • Familiarity with P&L management is preferred
  • Proven track record of building and developing highly successful cross-functional organizations
  • Ability to manage competing priorities concurrently and possess a strong ethical backbone
  • Hands-on thought leader with an analytical mindset, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with determining product-market fit and delivering products to market
  • Solid technical understanding to work effectively cross-functionally with product, engineering, technology, and finance
