Software Designer

The Software Designer will serve as the technical member on the Precise Imagery Division team for CIB Management and Foundation Management. The Software Designer will work closely with NGA government users to resolve any issues and improve users' experience.

  • Manage Product Distribution, including Whiteboard, dashboard metrics, and workflow management capabilities.
  • Perform analysis, including CIB version checking. This includes CIB1, CIB5, and ECIB.
  • Build, manage, and track NGA, industry, and International Partners CIB production.
  • Access and integrate GIMS, GDATM, NGA product dissemination, and GEOINT Requirements Management System (GRMS) data.
  • Maintain and modernize software that supports program and production management of Controlled Image Base (CIB) and Digital Point Positioning Database (DPPDB).
  • Design, modify, develop, write, and implement web applications for the continuation, integration, and follow-on enhancements to the existing applications.
  • Produce application code using Python, JavaScript, and HTML as codebases.
  • Perform updates to databases and assist in software design and architecture decisions.
  • Manage data and data structures using PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MSSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, including understanding SWL and data modeling, data transformation objects, and object relation mapping with Hibernate, Spring Data, and JPA.
  • Create front-end experiences with JavaScript, including libraries, like jQuery, Bootstrap, and frameworks, like Ember.js and other technologies as mentioned above.
  • Provide direct user support for access via PKI to the customer systems and be on call 24x7.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma or GED and 10+ years' experience in modern software and system design for complex Geomatics systems and experience with object-relational databases and database management systems, geospatial extensions, and relevant application software, like MAPINFO, ESRI Arc suite of applications, and Rimage.
  • Experience in PostgreSQL is preferred
  • Security+ required
  • TS/SCI clearance required
  • Successful passage of a Counter-Intelligence Polygraph may be required if directed by customer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Top problem-solving skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, accuracy, and attention to detail in a modern and evolving developer environment/architecture are also required.
  • Experienced in Visual Basic, .NET architectural, and modern programming, like but not limited to Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and NGA system architecture.
  • Experience in the National Geospatial Agency's (NGA) environment and direct experience in software development tasks in support of NGA.
  • Previous development experience with web services, database applications, and web application development.
  • Leadership and self-direction skills are highly desired.
  • Ability to solve complex engineering problems utilizing creative thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge and strong background with Unix System Administration, LDAP, and SiteMinder implementation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to critically analyze and understand the systems and communicate system requirements to the customer and leadership.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to meet eligibility requirements of a government security clearance for access to classified information.
