Senior Epidemiologist/Study Director - Telework Eligible

Westat has an immediate opening for a Senior Epidemiologist / Study Director to support nationally significant epidemiologic studies working with government scientists from NIH, CDC, and other agencies in human health and biomedical research. In this role you will manage a group of staff performing data management and statistical analysis.

This position is located in our Durham, North Carolina office and telework eligible.

Job Responsibilities
• Manage staff including programmer analysts and epidemiologists through supervision and communication.
• Project management and task distribution through the use of task/project management tools such as ASANA or GANTT charts.
• Oversee deliverables to clients resulting from the use of advanced analytical software such as SAS, R, Stata, or Python.
• Maintain quality control standards, promote automated data validation, and make recommendations for process improvements.
• Develop and communicate project schedules, deliverables, goals, and budgets.
• Complete project reports and budget summaries for clients.
• Attend meetings and communicate directly with clients.
• Assist with prioritization of work and workload/task dissemination.

Basic Qualifications:
• A master's degree in epidemiology, public health or similar social science field and 8 years of related experience.
• Experience using statistical software (such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, or R) to perform advanced data management and analytic tasks. This is necessary to understand the project work

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience managing project budgets and developing technical, staff, and cost proposals.
• Experience working in a contracting environment.
• Experience working on longitudinal epidemiologic study data management and/or analysis.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be comfortable and effective working on multiple, complex tasks in close coordination with others under limited direction; and have excellent attention to detail. You will also be a collaborator, with the Westat team and our clients.
