Logistics Specialist


The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the tracking, control, reporting, and distribution of the National Benefits Center (NBC) Records Operations Contract (ROC) which is a component of the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship, and Immigration Services (USCIS) which administers lawful immigration to the United States, and the U.S. Naturalization process. The Logistics Specialist will inventory government and companies issued equipment at various locations in the Lee's Summit, MO area.

  • Work with the customer on maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Ensure vehicle supporting is maintained.
  • Maintain and administer inventory control and property management procedures.
  • Create policies or procedures for logistics activities and property management.
  • Provide reports as needed.
  • Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Directly responsible for asset management.
  • Supervise and coordinate periodic physical inventories.
  • As needed, interacts with government personnel and contractor personnel with regards to asset management
  • Develop and maintain asset management plan of contractor equipment and vehicle.
  • Ensure NBC ROC property policies and requirements for government furnished equipment are followed.
  • Process requests and distribute company equipment and supplies.
  • Respond to queries concerning equipment and vehicle.
  • Ensure equipment received for distribution is bar coded and put into databases of record.
  • Ensure scheduled property inventory are completed at all facilities.
  • Advise management of equipment availability status.
  • Prepare reports depicting equipment operational status and location.
  • Anticipate problems and work to mitigate risks.
  • Work with various functional areas in evaluation of existing processes and identify process improvement opportunities to drive business results (i.e. cost reductions, operational efficiencies, and adequate controls etc.).
  • Participate in status update meetings between companies and the government personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • 4+ years' experience in logistics or a supply chain related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Background check required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Able to obtain secret clearance if required
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong work ethic, ability to be a self-starter, and the desire to work and succeed in a rigorous and challenging dynamic business environment
  • Excellent writing, presentation, verbal skills, and report preparation
  • Ability to be versatile and work independently while achieving results
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Must have the ability to travel as required
  • Required to adhere to Chenega Corporation mandate that all employees must be fully vaccinated to COVID-19 by December 8, 2021.

This position is contingent upon contract award and government funding.
