Senior Technical Product Manager

Job Description

Arc XP is a cloud-based digital experience platform that helps enterprise companies, retail brands and media and entertainment organizations create and distribute content, drive digital commerce, and deliver powerful multichannel experiences. A division of The Washington Post, Arc XP has powered the digital transformation of customers across the globe, currently serving over 2,400 sites in more than 25 countries that reach nearly 2 billion unique visitors monthly.

We are in immediate need of a Senior Technical Product Manager to own the development of Arc XP's platform extensibility solution. Arc XP customers frequently develop integrations with third-party and proprietary solutions. We're building a hosted, serverless path for our clients to extend and customize the platform to meet their exact needs.

This is a new product, so the Senior Technical Product Manager will have the opportunity to define the vision for how developers can seamlessly integrate and extend the platform. The Senior Technical Product Manager will need to analyze, prioritize, and realize the highest leverage opportunities as the team brings this new product to market.

The primary user of this product will be backend developers working with Java, NodeJS, and Python. The team is currently digging into how to offer clients self-service deployments, secret management, and observability. As this product matures, we expect it to serve as the backbone of Arc XP's integration marketplace that will allow clients to discover and configure integrations from within the platform.

In this role, you will use client feedback to drive platform and feature improvement, while also looking to the overall business goals of Arc XP to drive a long-term, strategic roadmap. You will balance competing demands to push forward a stable, scalable platform for Arc XP's users. This is a hands-on role, working directly with the sprint team to execute the roadmap.

The ideal candidate is an organized, critical thinker, who communicates at effective levels of technical depth and wields a commitment to constantly improve the customer developer experience. This is a technical role and candidates must be able to track technical requirements in detail. There will be a user interface to manage integrations but the primary deliverables will be APIs, SDKs, and other technical touchpoints that client developers will work with on a daily basis.

Your users are engineers and backend developers. You know how they work, what they need, and are excited to build a development platform that makes their lives easier.

In this role you will :
  • Create, manage and evangelize a strategic roadmap
  • Incorporate user feedback, business goals, and engineering requirements into a living roadmap for the Arc XP platform extensibility
  • Coordinate product release activities across multiple teams, driving internal team coordination and clear communication
  • Engage with engineers and other product managers to identify, validate and execute on key roadmap initiatives
  • Solicit client feedback to drive platform and feature improvement
  • Describe, demo, and document key technical features of the platform extensibility for Arc XP customers and internal users as a subject matter expert
  • Identify internal processes and product features that will advance those goals in both the short and long term
  • Identify key metrics to drive adoption of new features and best practices, and report them to stakeholders

Requirements

Candidates must have:
  • 5+ years experience of technical product management experience including:
    • Analyzing customer feedback, user research, and performance data to guide roadmap development for a developer-focused product
    • Developing new products and finding product-market fit
    • Conducting customer research sessions
    • Managing and prioritizing against a backlog and roadmap
    • Communicating directly with customers across multiple formats and streams - e.g. writing documentation, creating videos, meeting directly
    • Working with designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to launch products in an agile manner
    • Ability to communicate cross-functionally among sales, technical, and executive teams, explaining complex concepts using appropriate terminology for stakeholders
  • Familiarity with cloud computing providers such as AWS
  • Experience with DevOps workflows
  • Familiarity with RESTful API and SDK design

Preferred Requirements

Ideal candidates may have some of:
