Job Description Summary
Under supervision and/or direction, responsible for providing a clean and pleasant environment for the College community. Inspects equipment to ensure it is safe, in good working order, ready for use, and properly secured after each use.

Contacts and interaction vary and may involve multiple constituencies such as College employees, students, vendors, and the public, providing information, service, and assistance.Job Description
This position provides landscape maintenance service on a 200+-acre campus. Position is responsible for labor-intensive work outdoors in all seasons to assure a safe and clean environment. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintenance of the Germantown Campus grounds, which includes mowing, planting, mulching, trimming, leaf collection, collection of exterior trash, recycle items and  parking lot maintenance
  • Daily basic maintenance of the grounds equipment
  • During the winter months, position is responsible for snow removal, de-icing of walkways and parking lots
  • Assist with interior building service tasks and event set-ups on an as needed basis

  • One or more years of hands-on commercial grounds landscaping
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of lawn equipment
  • Experience planting and maintenance of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs

Skills Required:
  • Basic knowledge of the care and maintenance of lawns, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs
  •  Skill in using the tools, equipment, and materials of the trade
  •  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • An ability to move and lift heavy items up to 100 lbs., bend, stoop and reach and pull to work on grounds or equipment

Required Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED and any combination of education, training and/or experience providing understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Valid driver's license
  • As a condition of employment, evidence of a good driving record is required at the time of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A CDL Class B driver's license with air brake endorsement
  • Computer skills with knowledge of MS Windows, e-mail, and online time entry
