Primary Purpose

The Senior Director Global Compensation & Benefits is responsible for providing leadership of the global compensation and benefits function through development and implementation of compensation and benefits programs and strategy across the organization and oversight of the compensation and benefits function. Working with key internal and external stakeholders including compensation and benefits consultants and organizational leadership, this position identifies resources and develops internal policy and workflows to support the global alignment of compensation and benefits needed to support rapid global expansion efforts and the deployment of a well-qualified and diverse workforce.

  • Identify the priorities and areas of opportunity for global alignment of compensation and benefits programs; proposes and oversees the implementation of compensation and benefits programs, policies, procedures and communications.
  • Oversees the compensation and benefits organization within Human Resources to include activities related to job evaluation, benchmarking, salary administration and reportion; partners with Talent Acquisition to establish salary for new hires and internal transfers.
  • Further develop the global compensation and benefits organization so that it may serve as the central point for global direction of all compensation and benefits for staff in all Emmes locations.
  • Establish a comprehensive corporate compensation and benefits programs with a balance of market expectations and company needs.
  • Conducts strategic compensation and benefits meetings with key stakeholders to provide updates on compensation and benefits trends and activities, identify and effectively address barriers and opportunities.
  • Provides strategic, globally engaged leadership support; ensures proactive outreach, follow-up, and timely resolution of issues impacting global compensation and benefits processes.
  • Identify and analyze key compensation and benefits data including benefits utilization and experience measures and total remuneration, to ensure the talent acquisition processes aligns with company objectives.
  • Ensures overall data integrity of the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and compensation system (i.e., ADP, CompXl, etc.); compliance trainings, and strategically identifies compensation and benefits programs that attract and retaining an inclusive workforce.
  • Assesses, identifies, and recommends strategies to facilitate the allocation of compensation and benefits between global office locations.
  • Works in collaboration with consultants and legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable employment law and that best practice is implemented to employ a diverse and inclusive global workforce.
  • Propose and oversee global compensation and benefits budget to include consulting and survey fees, software, and system licenses; reviews and approves related expenses for budget impact and payment.
  • Oversees new hire/separation benefits meetings, annual benefits renewal, and open enrollment processes, making adjustments to premium projects through meetings with benefits consultants.
  • Provides policy advisement and oversight of global benefits and compensation programs and practices
  • Expert working knowledge of Federal/state labor laws and regulations (FMLA - Family and Medical Leave Act), PPACA, Worker's Compensation, COBRA, and Section 125). Strong global knowledge of health and welfare benefits, compensation pertaining to India, Canada, Europe, and the US including ERISA requirements.
  • Oversees the provision of inputs for required government reporting for India, Canada, Europe, and the US including Form 5500s.
  • Mathematical and MS Excel competency along with an understanding of qualitative and quantitative metrics with the ability to perform calculations accurately and reconcile numbers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Ability to effectively lead global management teams including collaboration skills, ability to share responsibility for results, providing and accepting feedback, requesting, and providing support, and representing management plans and decisions
  • Advanced knowledge and previous responsibility in the areas of effective management practices, goal setting, employee development, and administering performance reviews required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field plus 10 years total of progressive, experience directly managing global compensation and benefits activities in a life sciences organization with operations in US, Europe and preferably India.
  • 5 or greater years supervisory experience managing one or more managers with direct reports
  • Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), CEBS, or a related compensation or benefits certification preferred
  • Experience with an HRIS and compensation management systems required; ADP, CompXl and Cornerstone preferred
  • Knowledge of global labor laws pertaining to the benefits and compensation including incountry salary requirements, and standard in-country benefits for multi-national countries including, but not limited to, Canada, Europe, and/or India strongly preferred
  • Work history implementing strategic programs in alignment with organizational goals; ability to translate strategic vision into actionable results on a global basis
  • Understanding of human resource principals including retention, and diversity and inclusion strongly preferred
  • Mathematical and MS Excel competency along with an understanding of qualitative and quantitative metrics with the ability to perform calculations accurately and reconcile numbers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; proficiency in written and spoken English required; fluency in a secondary language including French, Italian, Russian and/or German preferred
  • Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms including Zoom, Skype for Business, Go to Meeting
