Primary Purpose

The Associate Director/Director, Biopharma Business Operations will manage all aspects of various projects of a complex nature and/or medium size initiatives by assembling cross functional global project teams, assigning individual team member responsibilities, identifying needed resources, developing schedules to ensure timely project completion, identifying critical capabilities, project resources, budgets and critical path issues.

  • Manage multiple global projects of medium-to-large size simultaneously, and their respective global project teams of varying sizes, complexity and backgrounds through the entire project lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain project plans and project budgets, report progress as required, generate risk assessments, escalate issues, and facilitate project review presentations.
  • Develop periodic updates for presentation to the group President and other members of the Executive Team.
  • Schedule and facilitate project meetings, manage a highly complex business calendar with a keen sense of prioritization and time management to ensure maximal effectiveness.
  • Work with cross functional global teams to develop project plans, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Obtain approvals from primary stakeholder(s) and control project scope, priorities, and schedule.
  • Contribute to thoughtful and creative discussions with project sponsor(s), stakeholders, departments and group management on strategic goals, resources, scheduling, plans and challenges.
  • Work closely with the group President to secure project resources, financial and personnel.
  • Manage the day-to-day projects/logistics and any corresponding communications.
  • Manage project management reporting, including tracking each critical step, outcomes and final deliverables.
  • Provide an extremely high level of customer service to stakeholders.
  • Collect and consolidate data/reports in order to track performance against goals and corporate strategy.
  • Exercise independent discretion and judgment to solve complex problems regarding project, department or division-related work.

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience; alternately in lieu of degree minimum of 10 years or greater direct, related work experience in Biopharma or CRO industry experience required or Master's/Master's of Business Administration with 3-5 years of direct, related work experience in Biopharma or CRO industry; alternately in lieu of Master's/Master's of Business Administration, 12 years or greater direct, related work experience in Biopharma or CRO industry experience required.
  • Clinical operations management experience in a CRO preferred.
  • Multi-project management/portfolio management experience in Biopharma or CRO industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated Planning and Project Management skills.
  • Experience leading global project teams.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and operations finance competencies.
  • Virtual collaboration capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively interact at executive officer level; ability to negotiate and persuade.
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced environment and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, make sound decisions, and escalate issues and provide decision making where appropriate.
